Akemi Honda（Akira Himekawa) 

漫画家。墨絵画家。

幼い頃から動物を愛し、神獣に惹かれ、彼らと対話しながら作品を創作。

主なモチーフは御眷属、霊獣、狼、馬、鷹。自然から得られるインスピレーションを内から湧き出る線で綴る。

  長野勢都香とユニットを結成。
• 1991年
  本田安桂美・長野勢都香のユニット作家名『姫川明輝』としてプロ漫画家デビュー。

自然、動物を主題とした作品が多く、 生命力溢れる描写に定評がある。一方でデジタルコミック黎明期にフルカラー漫画「グライディングREKI」の連載、UAEドバイで話題になった初のアラビア語漫画「Gold Ring」など、常に新分野に挑戦し続けている。

1998年より任天堂の世界的人気ゲーム「ゼルダの伝説」の漫画化を20年以上に渡って手がけており、同作品は米国を始め10カ国以上で翻訳され、海外において高い人気を得ている。2024年より「KAMUDO〜風の神門」を日米同時連載中。

2020年よりコロナ禍を機に、自分の原初に立ち返る”動物画”の『画人』活動を本格化、真神をはじめとする神獣をモチーフとした墨絵祈願絵を描き始め、2021年京都ちおん舎にて初のソロ画展?真神水墨祈願絵展[四天神狼]?、2022年7月には祇園祭の鷹山巡行復活に合わせ?狩鷹?展を開催した。

Manga Artist / Ink Wash Painter

From a young age, Akemi Honda has cherished a deep connection with animals and has been drawn to sacred beasts. Her work is a dialogue with these spiritual beings. Common motifs in her art include guardian spirits, divine beasts, wolves, horses, and hawks. Inspired by the rhythms of nature, she expresses her vision through intuitive brushwork rooted in traditional Japanese ink painting.

Wolves have been a recurring subject since childhood. Her lifelong journey to explore the spiritual essence of wolves culminated during several key moments in her life?1982, 1993, around 2012, and in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2020, she turned inward, praying for the dispersal of disease while confronting the wolf spirit within her own soul. The result was a powerful series of 108 ink paintings titled
“Divine Wolves of the Four Skies”,
depicting sacred wolves who guard the four celestial directions: east, west, south, and north.
